As part of the Venice Biennale, “The Mosque: The First Mosque in the Historic City of Venice” is a new art-installation from Swiss artist Christoph Büchel which temporarily turns a Venetian Catholic church into a mosque. The artist says the intention behind the project is to draw attention “to the political institutionalization of segregation and prejudice, and to settlement policies that lie at the heart of global ethnic and religious conflicts today.”
