Between the 8th and 13th centuries, while Europe stumbled through the Dark Ages, science thrived in Muslim lands. Science and Islam were compatible, with sayings of Muhammad exhorting believers to seek knowledge, “even as far as China.” More recently, Muslim country rulers are again realizing the economic value of scientific research and have begun investing accordingly.
