The Washington Post gives you a day in the life of a busy politician during… Ramadan. Keith Ellison is a 51-year-old Democratic representative from Minnesota, the first Muslim elected to congress. In the piece, he talks about being in demand for Iftar dinners (nightly breaking of the fast), attending more than fifteen as a guest speaker. “I used to dread Ramadan, but I’ve come to really look forward to it and enjoy it while it’s going on,” Ellison says. “It’s a time to really reflect, a time to contemplate your life and evaluate your values.”
