According to a recent Pew study, Evangelical Christians have a more difficult time accepting the Muslim community though there are many, like Pastor Bob Roberts, who are challenging this notion within his own faith. Pastor Roberts heads a congregation called NorthWood Church in Keller, Texas, and according to the Christian Science Monitor, he “breaks bread” with Muslim colleagues (“Texas-style, at his home”), frequents local mosques, and has become one of the leading Christian ministers in the fight against Islamophobia.
“Personally, I don’t see differences as a reason for us to remain separated – to not like or love one another,” says Nadia Hassan, Coordinator at the Islamic Society of North America. “I think it’s a beautiful thing. God says, I have created you all different so that you can know one another and befriend one another and not despise one another.”
