After winning best dressed by her senior class at Clifton High School in New Jersey, Abrar Shahin story went viral and was also picked up by many mainstream publications. Even Ashton Kutcher commented on his Facebook page about the fashionable hijab-wearing teen, under a link to her story he wrote: “Worry about how you feel, not what other people say.”
It’s cool to see how it’s gotten so far and reached people I don’t even know,” says Abrar. “I think it’s because a lot of people are happy to see something different and to hear about breaking stereotypes.”
