From coding to graphic design, Roya Mahboob’s nonprofit Digital Citizen Fund is giving Afghan women the knowledge and power to make a tremendous difference not just in their own careers, but hopefully the future of Afghanistan. No wonder she was named one of TIME magazine’s most influential people in 2013.
“I discovered that [Information Technology] is the best way to empower women in an extremely conservative society; it connects them to the world. They can discover new information, and with online education, increase their employability,” says Ms. Mahboob.
