Compiled by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center, a Jordanian think tank, “The Muslim 500: The World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims” was released this week. According to the publication the list “acts as an opportunity to shed some light on the many challenges and pioneering triumphs that are present at the very crux of shaping the Muslim community.”
Many Muslim-Americans were honored this year including: Linda Sarsour, (Executive Director of the Arab American Association of New York), Farhana Khera (President of Muslim Advocates), Nihad Awad (Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations), Fareed Zakaria (CNN journalist), Congressman Andre Carson, Congressman Keith Ellison, and Imam Mohamed Magid (President Emeritus of the Islamic Society of North America).
