Nolan Elementary-Middle School has been hit hard by the debt ridden Detroit school system so last month volunteers in the Muslim and Jewish faith decided to do something about it. The Michigan Muslim Community Council, the Jewish Community Relations Council of Detroit and the Detroit community all came together to rehab and beautify the elementary school by painting murals, fixing toilets, and organizing the library.
“It’s two faiths coming together for one cause, which is helping our students who are going to be our future,” says Sumaiya Ahmed, Communications Director for the Michigan Muslim Community Council.
