A Canadian bride had a major fashion emergency recently when the zipper to her wedding gown suddenly broke, but luckily there was a master tailor literally next door who came to the rescue. For 28 years, Ibrahim Halil Dudu was a master tailor in Aleppo, and only recently migrated to Canada with his family. When he saw the situation with the bride, he immediately got out his sewing kit and went to work. “He literally sewed her wedding dress back onto her,” says wedding photographer Lindsay Coulter. “Everyone was so grateful. They said thank you a million times.”
“I was so excited and so happy,” said Ibrahim Halil Dudu, through a translator. “I like to help Canadian people from my heart.”
The wedding photographer shared the following about her experience on social media: “Every weekend I take photos of people on the happiest days of their lives, and today one man who has seen some of the worst things our world has to offer came to the rescue. I am so proud to live in Canada, a country who has opened our doors to refugees countless times. I’m in awe of the families who have welcomed these strangers in to their homes and lives, and I’m inspired by the resilience of the Syrian people. We are truly blessed.”
