A powerful anti-terrorism PSA which depicts a suicide bomber being challenged by victims of extremism has gone viral in the Middle East. The opening scenes show a man wearing a suicide vest with the voice of a young girl challenging him, declaring, “You’ve filled the cemeteries with our children and emptied our school desks…”
“Worship your God with love, with love not terror,” sings Hussain Al Jassmi, a famous Emirati star, in the short film. “Be tender in your faith, gentle not harsh. Confront your enemy, with peace not war.” The piece also features survivors of extremism including a victim from the Kuwaiti mosque attack in 2015 and a bride from a 2005 attack in Jordan.
The three minute film was launched at the beginning of Ramadan, and thus far, has been viewed nearly 2.4 million times on YouTube. Prominent Emirati writer, Sultan Al Qassemi, recently tweeted: “What a beautiful ad on counter violence & extremism. Only Kuwait could do this.”
