Muslim Aid, a UK-based humanitarian organization, recently broke the Guinness World Record for the largest samosa weighing in at 153.1 kgs! A samosa is a fried dumpling stuffed with a savory filling such as spiced potatoes, onions, peas, lentils, cheese, minced lamb or minced beef. According to Wikipedia: “Samosas were brought to India by various Muslim merchants, and patronized under various Islamic dynasties in the region. Samosas from South Asia are now world renowned, and are probably the most popular type of Samosas globally.”
Twelve volunteers helped cook the supersize samosa. According to Arab News: “The samosa took around 15 hours of work and was dished up into hundreds of portions distributed to the local homeless via the Salvation Army.” Farid Islam was the project coordinator, and said it was touch and go there for a bit. “It was very tense. It looked like it was going to slide off. A crack appeared and I feared the worst.”
Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Pate called it “an absolutely great achievement.” Be sure to CLICK for the video —
