Nus Ghani, 45, has made history by becoming the first female Muslim minister in the United Kingdom to speak from the Commons Dispatch Box, and was cheered as she addressed questions about station access for disabled people.
Born in Kashmir, India, Ms. Ghani has been MP since 2015, and was recently appointed Transport Minister. Chris Grayling, Transport Secretary, says her promotion showed that the Tories “were a party of opportunity.” Adding, “We’re the party to provide the first Muslim woman minister to speak from the government dispatch. I congratulate her. I’m very proud to sit alongside her.”
