Shahd Batal is a 22 year old Sudanese-American woman making a splash on YouTube with her makeup and skincare tutorials.
“I’ve always loved makeup, but I got really into it post-hijab,” says Ms. Batal who first started to wear a hijab two years ago. “I’m completely self-taught, and you can see my skills get better and better in the videos. I feel like I made a whole career about not being good at things. Makeup was a tool I used to be creative, boost my confidence, and discover myself.”
