As executive director of Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights, Philadelphia native Rahmah A. Abdulaleem Esq. says the goal of her organization is to educate and empower Muslim women by providing role models as professional mentors.
Karamah, which means “dignity” in Arabic, will be hosting their annual Law and Leadership Program this summer. The program brings together a select group of Muslim women from all over the world, and puts them together with top professionals from a variety of industries. The program focuses on three areas — Islamic law, conflict resolution and leadership
Salima Suswell says she learned a lot about herself and her hometown of Philadelphia through the seminar. “I appreciate being a Philadelphian more. We have people from different parts of the world here and they are very excited to experience the rich history that comes with this city.”
