‘Coins of Islam: History Revealed’ recently opened at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi. The exhibition features over 300 rare and important coins collected from around the world. It showcases one of the world’s most significant collections of Arab and Islamic coinage ever assembled, according to CoinWeek.
Through these rare and ancient coins, visitors can see the emergence and expanse of Islam and the Arabic language, exploring the religion’s history of engaging with other cultures and faiths.
Dr. Alain Baron, the founder of Numismatica Genevensis, calls the exhibit “one of the world’s most significant collections of Arab and Islamic coinage ever assembled” and celebrates “the splendors and achievements of the Islamic civilization across centuries and the unique perspective on that history afforded by its coins.”
The exhibition runs through April 28th.
