Funded by the generosity of the local Muslim community, the Muslim Free Hospital was established in Rangon, Burma (now Yangon, Myanmar) in 1937 and was available to everyone, regardless of religious affiliation or ethnicity. Today, the hospital still exists with the same open policy which is pretty impressive considering what the Muslims in Myanmar are currently going through (see other stories about this topic in our “vault”).
