Muslim fashion designers and bloggers have become passionate and vocal about one thing of late — being fashionable and modestly dressed should not be an oxymoron. “Larger companies within the fashion industry should cater to women who choose to dress modesty, Muslim or not,” says fashion blogger, Saufeeya Goodson. “We are here, we exist — why aren’t we being catered to?”
Laila Alawa, for Style.Mic, reports that the Muslim consumer dollar has roughly $98 billion of buying power. “That’s a formidable market, but it’s not taken seriously or is truly understood by brands and designers outside of the Muslim community. It should be.”
