Early in 2013, the BBC’s Channel Four announced a season of new shows focused on contemporary Muslim life. Most controversial was a decision to broadcast pre-dawn morning prayers during the fasting month of Ramadan. Such programs have been aired routinely across the Muslim world for decades.
