“Ladies First” is a short documentary directed by Mona El-Naggar and produced by the New York Times which takes a look at Saudi Arabia’s recent decision to allow women the right to vote in local elections, a small but fundamental gain in Saudi women’s rights.
The documentary follows three Saudi women –a progressive activist, a traditionalist and a centralist – as they deal with the realities of campaigning in a country where women’s voices are just now getting heard.
