The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, a group with 70 chapters and more than 4,000 members across America, recently hosted a 5K run/walk to raise money for the Capital Area Food Bank, which serves Washington and surrounding areas in Virginia and Maryland, as well as Humanity First USA, which works with disaster relief. These funds are for anyone in need, Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
“We’re doing this in America to tell our fellow Americans that our religion is about helping humanity, our religion is about serving people,” says Raja, a participant of the run. “The people who know us, and the people who know good Muslims, they will tell you that a blanket statement of saying Islam is bad or all Muslims are bad is not true.”
