As a child Muslim Lakhani, a Pakistani-born professional polo player, entrepreneur and philanthropist, took special notice of the beggars that lined his street. His mother encouraged him to give them half of his food at meal times. Today, Lakhani continues to feed the hungry, by helping to fund the Washington DC Salvation Army Grate Patrol, a service that provides food to DCs homeless 365 days a year.
