Educated in Beirut and America (Columbia University), First Lady of Afghanistan Rula Ghani ushers in a new presence, bringing a sense of female empowerment to the country. She recently visited Washington DC and talked to NPR, commenting about women in her country:
“I want here to say that I’m in awe of Afghan women. Yes, they’re going through very difficult periods and their situation is not a very easy one, but you have some extremely strong, articulate, dedicated women at all levels of society.”
