Many Iraqis have found refuge in the holy city of Karbala from Islamic State fighters. More than 17 million Shiite Muslims recently gathered to mark Arbaeen, the end of the 40-day mourning period for the 7th century Shiite martyr, Imam Hussein, who is buried at Karbala.
