In these trying times, scholar Akbar Ahmed says that the European-Muslim community should look to the people of Bosnia, on how they survived hatred and even genocide. Mr. Ahmed says Bosnians absorbed the spirit of “ilm” which he defines as “living by and in the spirit of knowledge which engenders compassion for and understanding of the Other and intellectual curiosity about the world around us.”
