Amani Al-Khatahtbeh is the founder of Muslim Girl and in this photo-essay for CNN has partnered with Getty Images to produce a collection of vivid photos depicting Muslim girls in America, with the clear goal of tackling misrepresentation in the media.
The photos show Muslim young women — some who wear the hijab, some who choose not to wear the head-covering — going about their daily activities such as meeting with friends, working, or at home. “We created stock photos of Muslim women that are shot by Muslim women, led by Muslim women, and the models are Muslim women,” declares Ms. Al-Khatahtbeh.
