In Beirut, “Love and War on the Rooftop – a Tripolitan Tale” takes on sectarian conflict and violence in Lebanon and neighboring Syria. The play is loosely based on the Romeo and Juliet tragedy with the Sunni and Shiite conflict substituting for the opposing families. And most importantly, the acting company is comprised of… yes, Sunnis and Shiites (no small feat). The play is getting a strong reception in Beirut and there are plans to tour Lebanon this summer.
