Muslim leaders of Southern California have declared that it is time to do something about gun control after the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States happened in a gay night-club in Orlando. An interfaith vigil was held at the Islamic Center of Southern California where Hedab Tarifi, Chair of the Islamic Center of Southern California, declared: “It is time to be the change we want to have. Change starts with us. Enough with words. [It’s] time for action. [It’s] time for a national campaign to demand for gun controls and for the protection of the sanctity of life.”
“There’s no room for LGBTQ violence in any of our faiths,” said Salam Al-Marayati, President of Muslim Public Affairs Council who referred to what happened as “the most vicious of hate crimes.”
