Scholar William O. Beeman (Chair of the Department of Anthropology, University of Minnesota) has just returned from a cultural tour of Iran, and reports back that he has seen an “increased attention to the Arts at every turn.”
Citing restoration efforts on the Ali Qapu Palace including “marvelous paintings and cutouts” to the finished restoration of the Armenian Orthodox Church in Jolfa, Professor Beeman says despite Iran’s conservative government, the Arts still manage to flourish for one simple reason – they’re an important part of Iranian life.
