Scotland’s first Female Muslim MP

Last week, Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh became the first female Muslim MP (member of Parliament), winning the Ochil and South Perthshire seat for the Scottish National Party (SNP), and will be the first Muslim to represent the party at Westminster. “I am hoping to engage with people across all Muslim communities in the country,” she said after the win. “Hopefully they can see me as somebody who will stand up and always speak for equality, fairness and prosperity.”
