Egyptian science prodigy, 17 year-old Abdullah Assem was recently jailed for supposedly creating an anti-government group and was tortured by the police. After release, he managed to come to Los Angeles for the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in May. Since then, he has requested asylum saying that if he returns to his home country, he will be arrested and harmed.
