Secretary of State John Kerry said on Thursday that the United States will donate more than $925 million in aid for Syrian refugees, declaring the crisis as “the most complex humanitarian emergency of our time.” The new aid will include more than $600 million in food, shelter, water, and medical care with an additional $325 million in development assistance (ear-marked for youths in refugee camps in Jordan and Lebanon).
After five years of war, which has killed more than 200,000 Syrians and displaced millions, Kerry reported that the “situation on the ground is actually worse, not better.”
