Homeland security officials are currently on a “community outreach tour,” targeting Muslim communities in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, with the goal of gaining support to help deter young people away from extremism. There is some push-back as mistrust has formed after the recent outrage involving the NYPD surveillance on Muslims.
