With a population of 450,000, Toronto has the largest Muslim population in Canada. Recently the local paper, The Star, did a “temperature read” on Muslims across the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), discussing their thoughts on the future, whether they have faced discrimination, as well as “all of the things that make them inherently Torontonian.” Says Rabia Khedr, a Muslim-Canadian who is a consultant, “It’s human nature to fixate on what’s obviously different. I wish people would just close their eyes and listen to each other.”
