Who knew that hummus was the solution for peace in the Middle East (then again, you could ask any chef worth their weight in chickpeas). A restaurant in Israel recently started offering 50% off for meals where Arabs and Jews dined – together.
“Scared of Arabs? Scared of Jews?” proclaims the not-so subtle promotion. “By “us” we don’t have Arabs! But we also don’t have Jews… By “us,” we’ve got human beings!”
Manager Kobi Tzafrir said that the restaurant has already served several tables with both Arabs and Jews, and the idea has been well received by both. The kitchen is kosher and therefore also halal so both Jews and Muslims can partake.
“If there’s anything that can bring together these peoples, it’s hummus,” the manager concluded.
